Gems, Magic, and Holiday Glow

Gems, Magic, and Holiday Glow

Whether you're searching for a family outing, a unique shopping experience, or a little holiday magic, the Triangle delivers. This weekend’s lineup brings together three totally different, but equally unforgettable, events happening around Raleigh and Cary. From shimmering gemstones and artisan jewelry to a wizarding adventure and one of our area's most beloved holiday traditions, there’s something for every age and interest.

Here’s what’s trending this week:

Treasures of the Earth | Raleigh

If you’re drawn to sparkle or love exploring one-of-a-kind finds, the Treasures of the Earth show is a must-visit. This three-day event takes place at the Exposition Center at the NC State Fairgrounds, opening Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Here, you’ll find everything from precious and semi-precious gemstones to fossils, minerals, pearls, crystals, and handcrafted jewelry. Many of the artisans also offer custom jewelry design on-site, so you can choose your stones and watch a piece come to life. Whether you’re holiday shopping or just exploring, it’s an inspiring place to wander and discover something extraordinary. Learn more here.

Magic + Mischief: A Wizard's Market | Raleigh

Families and fantasy lovers will be transported at Magic & Mischief: A Wizard’s Market, taking place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fred Fletcher Park near downtown Raleigh. The park transforms into an imaginative world where young witches and wizards can practice spells, craft magical creations, meet whimsical characters, and shop enchanted wares from local artisans.

The experience also includes live family-friendly performances throughout the day. Costumes are encouraged, as long as they stay lighthearted and kid-friendly; no horror or full-face masks allowed. Register here - Admission is free!

NC Chinese Lantern Festival | Cary

The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival returns to Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, marking its tenth year of bringing breathtaking lantern artistry to the Triangle. Thousands of illuminated lanterns, some towering several stories high, fill the venue and create an immersive walkway of color and light.

In addition to exploring each display at your own pace, visitors can enjoy cultural stage performances, interactive lantern elements, and concessions. With its lakeside setting and enchanting atmosphere, the festival has become a beloved holiday tradition for families, couples, and anyone looking for a memorable seasonal outing.
